Here in the final years of human civilisation, the stench is growing.
The tune for this one should be obvious.
It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a whiff of the burning trees
The cinders upon the breeze
The fire-retardant tanker planes fly low
It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas
Crowds in every store
But the stupidest, I believe
Start their shopping Christmas Eve
Not a month before
A pair of headphones, a mic and an exercise bike
Is the dream of ten-year-old Jay
He’s vlogging his days in the stay-at-home haze
Hit a million subscribers by May
And Mum and Dad had always said that YouTube wouldn’t pay!
It’s beginning to cough a lot like Christmas
Wear your mask outside
Ramping ambulance on the street
The nurses dead on their feet
They’re all underpaid but still they’ve stayed with pride.
It’s beginning to cost a lot like Christmas
Shipping deadlines loom
If you wanted that book in time
Should have ordered it online
From your mother’s womb
It’s beginning to stink a lot like Christmas
Parliament will rise
All these tragedies in the news
But politicians snooze
Under foreign skies
What a Christmas surprise!
