Go Away, Donny J

It may be hard for future generations to accept, but there was a time when the region between Saskatchewan and Chihuahua on the North American continent contained a nation, known by the ironic name of the United States, which was ruled in its final months by a diseased outsized mango named Donald Trump.  This is how we all felt about him, all the time.  The tune is Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver.

April 2026

Almost startin’ world wars daily
Tweetin’ nightly, doesn’t sleep much, does he?
Lookin’ old now, old and mad and frail
Can’t they just impeach him? Send him off to jail!

Donnie J, go away,
Take a long holiday
Play some golf man, free your homeland
Go away, Donnie J

All your minions gather round then
Fox News anchors, psychopaths and conmen
Craving power, use you as their tool
Think you’re still their leader? Guess you’re just a fool

Donnie J, go away,
Not OK for you to stay
Grave dementia, time to bench ya
Go away, Donnie J

I hear your voice in a breed of politicians:
The smattering who long to be their nation’s deadbeat dad.
And as each fades away I thank democracy
For showing us we’re not so bad, not so bad

Donnie J, go away,
Won’t you do what I say?
It’d suit us to call on Brutus
Go away, Donnie J
Donnie J, go away,
It’s a grey dull cliché
Time we kicked ya, get the picture?
Go away, Donnie J
Go away now, Donnie J
Go away now, Donnie J
